Automation has not yet become standard practice in single-part and small-batch production. However, growing task consolidation and a shortage of skilled personnel are pushing many contract manufacturers to explore robotic solutions. At EMO 2025 (Hall 12, Booth C60), machine tool manufacturer HURCO will present its purpose-built automation technologies designed to make small-batch production more efficient.

With its ProCobots systems integrated into the control platform, HURCO is making automation on the machine more accessible and aiming to reduce both error rates and downtime. The robot arm is compatible with most HURCO models and supports efficient workflows on the company’s 3-axis milling machines, lathes, and 5-axis machining centers. A highlight at EMO will be the new ProFeeder EasyDesk 30, a robotic solution for parts handling with a payload capacity of up to 30 kilograms. Jobs can be set up and programmed directly via the Job Manager on the machine, with the ability to manage multiple jobs simultaneously and distribute components individually within the grid plate.

Ease of use and rapid setup are key differentiators in HURCO’s automation offering. This is enabled directly at the HURCO control, where an app runs the company’s job automation software on the second screen of the Max 5 control. Thanks to a simple calibration process, the ProCobot can be easily transferred from one HURCO machine to another.

For EMO 2025, the ProCobot will be demonstrated feeding a HURCO VMX42Di 3-axis machining center. As part of the premium VMXi range, this model features direct digital drives and heavy-duty roller guideways across all axes. Equipped with an 18kW, 15,000RPM direct-drive spindle, coolant ring, full cabinet washdown, and swarf conveyor as standard, the VMX42Di also offers generous travels of 1,067 x 610 x 610mm. This makes it particularly well suited for high-volume aluminum removal and 3D contouring applications.
