“The exhibition will reinforce India’s position as a reliable manufacturing destination,” says Nishikant Ahire, Chairman, AMT Group of Companies. This interview was taken for DMI 2026.

How are emerging sectors like EVs, healthcare, and aerospace shaping growth in the Indian die and mould industry?
The Indian die and mould industry is rapidly adopting advanced technologies to enhance precision, productivity, and operational efficiency. EVs are creating significant opportunities for die and mould manufacturers. The healthcare sector offers strong growth potential. The increasing focus on indigenous aerospace and defence production is generating demand for high-precision dies and moulds.

What challenges is the Indian die and mould industry facing amid rising global competition and the need for advanced technology adoption?
India’s manufacturing push has intensified competition from global players, particularly China, both in cost competitiveness and technological capabilities. Smaller enterprises face challenges in adopting advanced technologies due to high capital investment requirements.

How are precision manufacturing, talent development, and localisation driving India’s growth in high-value die and mould markets?
Precision manufacturing and structured talent development initiatives are essential for expanding into new and high-value markets. Localisation efforts are steadily maturing, positioning India as a self-reliant hub for die and mould manufacturing, supported by a skilled workforce and advanced production processes.

How has participation in DMI exhibitions contributed to business growth and global visibility for the tooling industry?
Participation in DMI Exhibitions has significantly contributed to business growth, networking, and collaboration within the tooling ecosystem, accounting for approximately 5% business expansion. DMI 2026 will offer a premier platform to present India’s manufacturing strengths. The exhibition will enhance global visibility, generate high-quality leads, and reinforce India’s position as a reliable and innovative manufacturing destination.
