“Automotive has been the biggest market for our Die and Mold sector for years and now with the EV push lot of new developments in the same segment is also taking place hence resulting in demand growth. But with new and emerging markets such as Aerospace, Medical and now booming Electronics segment are also contributing to the growth. Since many OEMs and Tier 1 vendors establishing the whole ecosystem in India our D&M industry is surely growing around that,” says Manas Majumder, Dy. Director – Sales, Haimer India Pvt. Ltd.,  in an interview for the 14th Die & Mould India International Exhibition 2026.

What key trends, challenges, or growth opportunities do you see in the Indian Die and Mould Industry today, and how might they evolve by 2026?
Die and Mold segment in India is a backbone of our core manufacturing sector which is poised to grow even bigger. With that, it also has its own challenges such as timely delivery against all odds of raw material shortage, fluctuating prices, and cost challenge against the benchmarking of Chinese Molds which we very cost effective. One of the biggest challenges today is getting/retaining skilled manpower and no company big or small is spared by this.

That’s where the current and emerging trends are around these challenges to empower the industry with less dependency on person we can name it IOT, Industry 4.0 and so on but all these addresses the same issue and strengthening process more and less dependency on people.

Talking about growth opportunities, Indian Die and mold which is predominantly Automotive centric has also opened up to Aerospace, Medical and Electronics industry as these segments are growing in India and with push for local manufacturing it gives the industry a new growth opportunity. At the same time the industry is also embracing newer technologies which help them to produce better, faster and more efficiently. We hope to see this the key factor in coming year.

Which sectors (e.g., Automotive, EVs, Aerospace, Medical, Defence etc.) are driving demand for Dies and Moulds, and what opportunities do they present for the industry?
As we all know, Automotive has been the biggest market for our Die and Mold sector for years and now with the EV push lot of new developments in the same segment is also taking place hence resulting in demand growth. But with new and emerging markets such as Aerospace, Medical and now booming Electronics segment are also contributing to the growth. Since many OEMs and Tier 1 vendors establishing the whole ecosystem in India our D&M industry is surely growing around that.

How is India’s manufacturing push (e.g., Make in India, China+1) impacting the Die and Mould sector overall?
Make in India or China + 1 policy not only for India but also for Global market has been a key driver for our growth. Whether it’s decentralising from China or making our local ecosystem stronger in all way this gives us a big opportunity to be part of the success story. We also need to keep in mind that with all the push towards India from global market we also have a chance to place Indian manufacturing to the global standards and it also helps us to improve our capabilities. Surely it is a journey we all need to take but without that we are not going to be benefitted in true sense.

What innovations or technologies (e.g., additive manufacturing, automation, AI, simulations) are shaping the competitiveness of the die and mould industry?
When the key challenge is time and precision the solution or biggest aid is found in additive manufacturing for prototyping and AI/simulation tools for faster pre-processing. If we talk about machining specifically, we see 5 Axis machines and High-speed machines are becoming the new norm in tools rooms, which gives the competitive edge for machining moulds faster and better, reducing the set-up time. From Haimer we offer our high precision shrink fit systems for Die and Mold segment which helps in manufacturing faster and better molds with cost competitiveness.

What role do initiatives like precision manufacturing and talent development play in expanding the Die and Mould industry into new markets?
For any industry to grow at rapid rate, it’s very important to create a big talent pool to cope with the manpower requirement which is suitable for current demands and challenges. Also, it is equally important to give them the exposure of current and latest trends/technologies else the gap between real world and training room can never be bridged and the whole purpose of skill development will be defeated.

How has participating in past DMI exhibitions contributed to growth, networking, or collaborations within the tooling ecosystem?
Shows like DMI are a bridge between industry and suppliers both. These shows are the reflection where industry is heading and its future readiness. It brings all the players under one roof, and it also acts as a community building for our tooling ecosystem. From suppliers to Global OEMs to vendors all gets benefitted with DMI show by getting new opportunities, technologies or building networks.

What makes DMI 2026 a valuable platform for the Die and Mould industry to showcase its strengths to domestic or global customers?
DMI 2026 is India’s biggest show for our Die and Mold industry where all global to local industry takes part be it as exhibitor or as visitor. It is a platform where the industry shows it’s capacity and it’s readiness for the global requirements. Also, it is a best platform where we see the newest trends/developments in the segment. It gives a lot of confidence to Global and domestic customers who can rely on Indian Die and Mold segment.

What products, technologies, or launches are you planning to showcase at DMI 2026, and why are they significant for the industry?
At HAIMER our philosophy is “Quality Wins” and we are always in the forefront when it comes to help our industry move along with current trends and be future ready. This DMI show we are showcasing our “Tool Room of the Future” concept where all our systems with i4.0 compatibility are displayed. This will help our customers to establish a process which less dependent on person and more focused on predictable and repeatable results. We can give description and benefits of our PC, MS and Toolbase along with Wintool with pictures.
