DN Solutions has inaugurated its first manufacturing plant in India, marking a ₹600 crore investment in a new facility in Bengaluru as the Korean machine tool manufacturer expands its production, R&D and service operations in the country.
Located in Bengaluru’s ITIR Industrial Area, the 25-acre facility has been developed in collaboration with the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB). The company has completed its Phase 1 investment and is evaluating additional investments of a similar scale, depending on market demand and business growth.
The Bengaluru plant is DN Solutions’ first overseas manufacturing investment since the company established its Yantai facility in China in 2003.
DN Solutions said the new facility represents a fresh production investment in India and is not a relocation of manufacturing operations from Korea or China.
Manufacturing and R&D operations
The facility integrates R&D, manufacturing, a technical centre and after-sales service. Initial production will include SVM vertical machining centres and LYNX and LEO horizontal turning centres. Production of five-axis machines is planned for later phases.
The R&D centre will work with DN Solutions’ research institutes in Korea, Germany and China, as well as technical centres across Asia, Europe and the Americas. The company plans to develop products, applications and solutions tailored to Indian manufacturing requirements.
A technical centre at the facility will allow customers to conduct test cuts and assess machining solutions. The site will also include a service office, repair shop, parts warehouse and DN Academy to support after-sales service and technical training.
DN Solutions has operated in India for more than three decades, beginning sales in 1994, establishing its Bengaluru Technical Center in 2008 and setting up its Indian subsidiary in 2016.
Local supply chain and talent development
The company is pursuing localisation by developing Indian suppliers and MSMEs rather than shifting existing suppliers from Korea or China. It said localisation has reached about 80% by parts count, with plans to source most components in India over the next five years, excluding spindle assemblies. A formal supplier development programme is planned for 2027.
The company currently employs 240 people directly in India and aims to increase this to 500. Over the past year, it has recruited around 100 recent graduates and operates a training centre and one-year talent development programme.
DN Solutions also plans to work with customers, MSMEs and educational institutions to develop application engineers, technicians and machining specialists.
Wonjong Kim, CEO of DN Solutions, said Bengaluru’s engineering talent and software ecosystem were among the factors behind the company’s decision to establish the facility in the city. He also linked the expansion to the growing role of machine tools in what he described as the emerging Physical AI era.
The company said the Bengaluru plant is intended to become a strategic hub combining manufacturing, R&D, supply chain development and talent cultivation, with further expansion dependent on market demand and business growth.
