Allied Machine and Engineering has announced the expansion of its T-A Pro product line with the introduction of new drill and chamfer holders. This extension enables users to drill and chamfer a hole in a single operation, eliminating the need for secondary processes such as chamfering or deburring, as well as the need for tool changes.

Ideal for industries such as automotive, heavy equipment, and mold and die where threaded holes are numerous and reducing cycle times is key, these holders are compatible with all existing T-A Pro inserts and are available in Y-3 series and sub series A and C. Additionally, the T-A Pro drill and chamfer holders offer the following functions:

  1. Provide a 0.040 inch (1.0 millimeter) x 45 degree (minimum) chamfer for various thread specifications including: UN | ISO | NPT | NPS | BSPP | BSPT | BSW.
  2. Chamfer/edge break the top of the hole to reduce secondary deburring.
  3. Pre-drill for extended length holders from 10xD to 15xD due to the flute length of the tool being at a minimum 2xD.

Compared to competitor offerings, the T-A Pro drill and chamfer body provides a large range of diameters that can be drilled and chamfered with a single tool—delivering more flexibility out of a single drill body without sacrificing performance. Targeted around thread sizes, this product offers an easy selection guide for users when choosing the correct drill body and insert combination for the job. However, if the length and diameter specifications do not meet the customer’s requirements, customized solutions tailored specifically to the application are available.

John Weniger, product manager of the T-A Pro line shares, “We’ve taken the specialized performance our customers count on and transformed it into a standard solution—designed to simplify setups, cut cycle times, and drive higher throughput.”
