Meusburger Offers Coordinated Sensor Technology for Smart Injection Moulds

Meusburger offers a range of sensor technologies and electrical components designed to improve process monitoring and production efficiency in smart injection moulds.

The portfolio includes proximity and limit switches, magnetic proximity sensors, thermocouples and cavity pressure sensors, enabling manufacturers to monitor different parameters during the moulding process.

To support seamless integration, Meusburger also provides compatible cable systems, push-in connections and logic distributors. These components work together to ensure coordinated sensor integration, reliable process monitoring and optimised production processes in injection moulding applications.

Large selection, fast availability

A wide range of sensors, cables, push-in connections and logic distributors for a wide variety of temperature range are all available at Meusburger from stock. This ensures maximum planning reliability, supports the rapid realisation of new projects and reduces downtime when spare parts are required. Plug & Play compatible system solutions minimise wiring effort and decrease the risk of connection errors. Clear connection options also simplify the design, commissioning and maintenance of moulds. This allows the sensor technology to be integrated efficiently into existing and new mould designs.

Sensors for end positions and other positions

Limit switches and inductive sensors enable the reliable monitoring of moving mould components. Mechanical limit switches are activated by direct contact, whilst inductive sensors detect metallic items without making contact. This means they operate without wear and ensure reliable position sensing. Positioning errors can be detected at an early stage, and automated mould operation can be reliably monitored.

Monitor temperature accurately

A constant mould temperature is essential for stable processes and consistent component quality. The thermocouples from Meusburger operate on the thermal sensor principle and comply with accuracy class 1. They provide reliable measured values even under demanding conditions and enable precise temperature monitoring. Depending on the design, the sensors have temperature resistance up to 400 °C. This enables controlled mould temperature regulation, contributing to consistent processes and a consistently high level of component quality.

Cavity pressure as a key process parameter

Cavity pressure also provides relevant information for process monitoring in injection moulding. Pressure sensors make it possible to record pressure trends and thus monitor process stability and the quality of the manufactured items. Meusburger offers versions for direct and indirect measurement, as well as suitable connection technology. CAD data including installation spaces is available digitally for the design process.

Matching connection components

Various types of logic distributors bundle signals, simplify machine connection, reduce the installation effort and ensure reliable signal transmission. This results in a fully aligned solution – from the sensor technology in the mould right through to the connection on the injection moulding machine.

With its range of products designed specifically for mould making, Meusburger supports the reliable monitoring of position, temperature and cavity pressure.
