HANNOVER MESSE spotlights artificial intelligence

HANNOVER MESSE opens its doors on 31 March 2025, this year spotlighting the topic of artificial intelligence (AI) in industry. The event will showcase how AI technologies can optimize production processes, boost efficiency and sustainably advance companies’ competitiveness. With the digital transformation now in full swing, AI is increasingly becoming a crucial success factor in industry.

At HANNOVER MESSE, numerous exhibitors will demonstrate how AI solutions are being implemented in real-world applications. In addition, AI trends and use cases will be presented and discussed on major stages and in masterclasses. For the first time, HANNOVER MESSE will offer an interactive, web-based Dynamic Tour, guiding participants to the most exciting AI highlights of the event. This will allow visitors to explore practical applications in areas such as production, robotics, and energy, all at their own pace.

AI for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)

At the Mittelstand-Digital stand in Hall 17, visitors from the SME sector can try out digital solutions and AI applications firsthand and schedule discussions with experts from Mittelstand-Digital and the German Network of European Digital Innovation Hubs. Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) is providing cost-free access to all Mittelstand-Digital offerings. Visitors are encouraged to complete Mittelstand-Digital’s AI Readiness Check in advance to gain a comprehensive assessment of their own strengths and potential, as well as tailored recommendations for improving their AI maturity.

Below is a selection of AI examples featured at the event:

Siemens will present forward-looking solutions for the pharmaceutical industry, focusing on the integration of industrial AI into pharmaceutical production. The creation of a digital twin for existing facilities is facilitated by what are known as industrial copilots. Siemens’ industrial copilot for their TIA Portal is a generative AI-driven assistant for automation engineers using the TIA Portal. It helps engineers generate SCL code faster, answer engineering questions, and create HMI visualizations.

Aleph Alpha will host a masterclass demonstrating how generative AI can make critical business processes 30 percent more efficient. The company will share insights from numerous customer projects and their implementation in production.

The German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) will showcase how autonomous robots can be efficiently trained in the future. A key focus here is on simulations designed to serve as an experiential foundation for intelligent autonomous robotic systems. These simulations enable neural networks to be trained and algorithms developed on the basis of model predictive control, allowing robots to perform tasks independently.

Platform Industrie 4.0

At the joint stand, various demonstrators will illustrate how companies can unlock potential for new business models and services within data ecosystems. Highlights include a collaborative robot from the Robot-X project, designed to make robotic systems more accessible to small and medium-sized enterprises across various industries. The Factory-X project will demonstrate the practical implementation of the Digital Product Passport and how digital twins can enable industrial use cases such as ‘traceability’ and ‘carbon footprint management’ within a data ecosystem. The industrial metaverse will also be on display; it bridges digital and physical worlds in industry and represents the next step in the evolution of connected production through the integration of data ecosystems, digital infrastructure, and AI. Central to this are demonstrators showcasing industrial metaverse applications in product development, training, and simulation.

Artificial intelligence on stage

A series of expert presentations and panel discussions will give visitors the opportunity to learn from leading experts and discover best practices. Companies such as Altair, Beckhoff, Bosch, Google Cloud, PSI, SAP, and Siemens will present their latest AI-driven solutions and demonstrate how these technologies can be implemented in practice. Additionally, startups and research institutions like DFKI, Fraunhofer, and KIT will introduce innovative approaches with the potential to transform industry sustainably. AI will take center stage on all major platforms at HANNOVER MESSE, including the Industrie 4.0 Stage in Hall 8, the Energy 4.0 Stage in Hall 13, and the Digital Transformation Stage in Hall 17. There, Thursday will be dedicated to AI in industry, featuring a full day of presentations by AI experts and use cases, continuing the successful Industrial AI Conference series.
