Seco Tools has introduced the Jetstream Tooling® M-Clamp toolholders for large inserts, designed to enhance performance in demanding machining applications. The system features targeted high-pressure coolant delivery, double clamping security, and 3D-printed clamps aimed at improving tool life, chip control, and surface finish, even when working with tough materials.
The Jetstream Tooling® M-Clamp system integrates high-pressure coolant through a 3D-printed clamp along with a secondary DUO JET outlet, ensuring effective temperature control at the cutting zone. This approach enables an extension of tool life by at least 30%, while also enhancing chip evacuation and delivering improved surface finishes, including in applications involving stainless steel and superalloys.
The additively manufactured clamp is positioned at a safe distance from the cutting edge, reducing exposure to chip hammering—a common cause of wear and instability. This design contributes to increased operational reliability, fewer clamp replacements, reduced downtime, and more consistent machining performance.
Double clamping security for negative and round positive inserts
For the first time, double clamping security is available for both negative and round positive inserts. The addition of a center-lock screw together with the top clamp ensures improved stability and rotational security, reducing insert movement and boosting reliability in challenging conditions.
Unmatched flexibility compared to traditional clamps
Efficiency is further enhanced by the JETI M-Clamp’s twist function and shared key slot design, allowing for faster insert changes and easier indexing, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity. Customization is also at the forefront: thanks to 3D printing, AM clamps can be tailored to meet unique machining requirements, offering flexibility that traditional clamps cannot match.
“Our goal with the Jetstream Tooling M-Clamp was to solve the real challenges machinists face, such as unreliable coolant delivery, clamp wear, and time-consuming insert changes,” says Fredrik Samuelsson, Global Product Manager ISO Toolholders. “And we achieved it.”
