Tungaloy Corporation has announced the expansion of its high-efficiency solid carbide drill series “DSW,” introducing 22 new items covering diameters from 3 mm to 10 mm with L/D ratios ranging from 16 to 30. The expansion aims to enhance tool selection and performance in small-diameter deep hole machining applications.
In precision component manufacturing, including automotive parts and semiconductor equipment, the demand for small-diameter deep hole drilling with L/D ratios exceeding 10—such as for cooling and sensor holes—has been steadily increasing. However, challenges such as hole deviation and chip clogging are common in the 3–10 mm diameter range, making it difficult to maintain machining accuracy and productivity.
These challenges are further amplified when deep hole machining is carried out on general-purpose machines such as machining centers and lathes. In response, there is a growing demand for solid carbide drills that can deliver both high efficiency and precision with stability, along with expanded product lineups that cover a wider range of sizes.
The DSW is a high-performance solid carbide drill with an advanced coating. It delivers excellent wear resistance and long tool life, enabling high-precision drilling in a wide range of metallic materials such as steel and cast iron. Its innovative cutting edge design ensures stable machining and exceptional dimensional accuracy. With a variety of types available, including external and internal coolant options, SolidDrill offers the optimal solution for diverse machining conditions.
