Meusburger Introduces Flexible Elbow Fitting Variants

Meusburger has expanded its portfolio of temperature regulation components with new elbow fittings. These components have been specially developed for the demanding requirements of mould making and offer significantly greater safety, durability and design freedom compared to conventional solutions.

Solving Elbow Fitting Weaknesses

In mould making, elbow fittings are critical elements that must withstand high temperatures and mechanical stresses while ensuring reliable flow of the temperature regulation medium. However, practical experience shows that conventional fittings often have weak points: materials such as brass, low flow rates, sensitive seals or hollow bolts with low load-bearing capacity often lead to breakages. This results in time-consuming cleaning and costly production downtime. Meusburger’s new elbow fittings were developed as a direct response to these challenges and based on specific customer requests – offering the entire industry a high-performance solution. Their design aims to maximise process reliability and significantly increase the service life of the temperature regulation systems.

Strength Meets Flow Performance

A standard hollow bolt is a compromise between stability and flow rate. However, thanks to a new, sophisticated design, Meusburger has succeeded in significantly increasing both robustness and flow rate. This innovative solution offers customers clear added value in terms of safety and cost-effectiveness. Meusburger elbow fittings are made of high-quality stainless steel and feature a flow-optimised geometry. They offer up to 80% more flow rate than standard connections, ensuring more efficient temperature regulation and maximum process reliability. The details of the design also contribute to its durability: the hollow bolt has a particularly robust design and features a deep hexagon socket which is ideal for repeated assembly and disassembly. High-temperature O-ring seals, designed for temperatures up to 200 °C, are integrated as standard. A short mounting thread allows for additional design freedom. The entire assembly is pre-assembled, which is another practical advantage as it is ready for immediate use and can be installed without any additional steps.

Different variants for every application

Meusburger offers different variants of elbow fittings to enable maximum flexibility in design:

  • Elbow fitting with support section E 20870: This fitting has been specially designed to prevent breakages of the extension nipples caused by the high forces exerted by connected cooling hoses. A particular weak point is often the end of the thread, where the smallest cross-section and the stress concentration can lead to breakages. The E 20870 solves this problem with a support section positioned directly in front of the thread, significantly increasing the load capacity at this critical point.
  • Elbow fitting with thread, short E 20871: This fitting features a particularly short design and is available in two types: type A with a very compact design and type B with a raised design, ideal when more space is required such as in combination with a temperature regulation circuit coupler. The extension E 20830 allows the mounting height to be adjusted further, increasing design flexibility.
  • Elbow fitting for cooling bridge E 20900: This compact and robust variant allows full flow and is optimised for use as a cooling bridge. Thanks to its suitable design, the fitting can also be completely recessed into the plate in a simple milled groove if desired – a clean and space-saving solution.
